Cooperative trade facilitator

Trade across the Atlantic, built on cooperation.

Fresh Coop Transatlantic connects producers, cooperatives and buyers on both sides of the Atlantic, with representative offices in Canada, the United Kingdom, Spain, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. We trade commodities, food products and energy resources, invest in the infrastructure that moves them, and support the growth of the international cooperative movement.

Trade corridors

Where our cargo moves.

We work on four Atlantic corridors linking North and South America with Europe and West Africa. The ports on the map are the main gateways on each route; we arrange shipments through other ports on request.

What we do

Four lines of business, one Atlantic.

We act as a facilitator between sellers and buyers: we find the counterparty, structure the contract, arrange shipment and see the deal through to settlement. Where trade is held back by missing storage or logistics, we invest in the assets themselves.

Agricultural commodities

Grains, oilseeds, sugar, coffee and other soft commodities, sourced from producers and cooperatives and delivered to processors and distributors.

Food products

Fresh and processed fruit and vegetables, edible oils and packaged foods, handled with the cold chain and food-safety documentation each market requires.

Energy resources

Petroleum products, liquefied gas and other energy commodities, traded under term or spot contracts with independent quality and quantity inspection.

Trade infrastructure investment

We invest in the physical links of transatlantic trade: storage and warehousing, cold chain, port-side handling and logistics capacity that let producers reach export markets.

How we work

From first enquiry to final settlement.

Every transaction follows the same four stages, so both sides know what documents are needed and when payment moves.

  1. Source and verify

We identify the counterparty, complete KYC and due diligence, and agree product specification, origin and volumes.

  2. Structure the contract

Price, delivery terms and payment are fixed in a written contract, with payment by letter of credit, documentary collection or agreed terms.

  3. Ship and inspect

We arrange freight, insurance and independent inspection at loading, and track the cargo through to the port of discharge.

  4. Deliver and settle

Shipping documents are presented, payment is released against them, and the buyer takes delivery.

We contract on Incoterms® 2020 FOBCFRCIFDAP Other terms by agreement.

The cooperative movement

Cooperation is in our name and in how we trade.

We actively promote the international cooperative movement. We help farmer and producer cooperatives reach transatlantic buyers on fair terms, link cooperatives in different countries with each other, and direct investment into shared infrastructure that members could not build alone.

  • 1Voluntary and open membership
  • 2Democratic member control
  • 3Member economic participation
  • 4Autonomy and independence
  • 5Education, training and information
  • 6Cooperation among cooperatives
  • 7Concern for community

The seven cooperative principles of the International Cooperative Alliance guide the partners we work with and the way we structure cooperative trade.
